iPad Mini to Be Released Soon
A new portion of rumors has spread from DigiTimes, saying that in the end of 2010 Apple fans will be able to lay their hands on the new models of the iPad the ones that will most probably feature 7-inch and 5.6-inch OLED screens.
According to these rumors, the second-generation iPads were ordered from the company’s factory located in Taiwan and will be released during the last quarter of 2010 first quarter of 2011. The range of models will not be limited to 7-inch and 5.6-inch ones but will also include the 9.7-inch one.
The new shipment of the current iPad models will also have a bunch of changes due to the fact that Apple has recently widened the list of its suppliers by adding CMI or Chimei Innolux.
The people in DigiTimes suppose that the new mini iPads will most probably meet the demands of e-book readers while the biggest version of the device will aim at multimedia entertainment fans.
On the other hand, Mingchi Kuo, who’s working in DigiTimes as a research analyst, has expressed certain doubts regarding the rumor. Kuo said that at the moment even Samsung, which is the biggest producer of OLED, is not supplying its products with this kind of screens. Therefore, how would Apple manage it? This still remains a question without answer.
In April DigiTimes already expressed hope that the second generation of the iPad planned for release in the end of 2010 the beginning of 2011 will feature OLED screens. It didn’t look likely back then and this is exactly the way it still looks now. Thus, the chances are that these rumors will hardly ever turn out to be backed up with some facts. Anyway, we will be waiting.
