Will the iPad Sales Rival the iPhone Sales?
Everybody knows that Apple earns a lot of money thanks to its popular gadgets, especially the iPhone. This smartphone has become highly recognizable in most countries of the world. No wonder the Cupertino-based company makes most of its earnings from this core device.
According to predictions, such situation may change in the future, and another well-known product by Apple, the iPad, might finally rival the iOS smartphone. We have seen how quickly the iPad gathered steam around the world. It is now sold in a lot of countries, so we wonder if this tablet computer is able to bring Apple more money and significance than the phone since the third-quarter 2012 goes without a new model of iPhone and the company’s earnings should be reported on Tuesday.
Even if the iPad brings good money to Apple this quarter, the phone is the device that determines how investors react to the new results. Predictions state that the company can receive over $37 billion of overall revenue and over $5.8 earnings per share.
The third-quarter 2011 brought Apple over 20 million of iPhone sales, and during January-March 2012 there were over 35 million devices sold. If the sales are up from these numbers, investors will be delighted. Analysts believe that the iOS phone sales can reach from 27 to over 38 million gadgets.
Why would investors be nervous? Verizon can be their headache this quarter since it sold 2.7 million units of iPhone during this period of time, but this total number is down 0.5 from the figures sold in the second-quarter 2012. Of course, this is not the only carrier that sells the iPhone around the world.
iPad Sales to Set a New Record?
While Apple did its best to make the iPhone more popular even without releasing a new model of this gadget, the company has also taken strategic steps with its iPad. This quarter the iPad sales can shatter records resulting in 11.8 million third-generation devices being sold in less than a month.
The iPad 3 is sold in 56 countries now. According to analysts, the iPad sales record can reach over 15 million units. It is truly possible that the tablet computer can venture into the territory of iOS phones if the tablet will be on the high side.
